Gas technicians are mandated by law through TSSA to tag any gas appliance and gas piping that does not meet the safety specifications from the manufacture or TSSA.
There are two tag definitions Immediate Danger and No Immediate Danger.
Immediate Danger: The Gas Technician will turn off the gas appliance (Gas Furnace, Gas Stove, gas Fireplace, etc.) that is not to spec or gas piping. They will also inform the customer and gas distributor. Your Gas meter or regulators might be turned off as well. The only way to have the gas turned back on is to replace or repair the defective item or appliance
No Immediate Danger: The Gas Technician will give you up to 90 days to get the issue fixed and will also inform you and the gas distributor.
If you do not agree with the Tag please feel free to reach out and we would be happy to talk with you about the tag.
